GMC became a matching institution with Americorps in March 2016. AmeriCorps engages more than 75,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country. Since the program’s founding in 1994, almost 1 million AmeriCorps members have contributed more than 1.2 billion hours in service across America while tackling pressing problems and mobilizing millions of volunteers for the organizations they serve.
As a matching school participating in the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, Green Mountain College will contribute another scholarship of a $1,500 towards the student’s studies at GMC. This award is on top of any other grants or awards the student receives (not to exceed the cost of tuition) and applies to all majors and degree programs: Online Graduate and Undergraduate, as well as all our on-campus undergraduate programs.
The GMC/Audubon International Educational Partnership Agreement established in April 2016. The mission of Audubon International is to deliver high-quality environmental education and facilitate the sustainable management of land, water, wildlife, and other natural resources in all places people live, work, and play. Through education, technical assistance, certification, and recognition, Audubon International facilitates the implementation of environmental management practices that ensure natural resources are sustainably used and conserved.
GMC and Audubon International recently teamed up to provide our Educational Partnership Scholarship to the full-time employees of any Audubon International member organizations. With more than 2000 member organizations worldwide, you may qualify under this partnership and not even realize it. Colby-Sawyer College and Green Mountain College (GMC) have signed an articulation agreement that allows qualified Colby-Sawyer students to enter GMC’s sustainability-focused graduate programs.
Under the agreement, GMC will admit Colby-Sawyer graduates who earned a grade point average of 3.0 or higher after they submit required graduate admissions materials; application fees will be waived.
The graduate degrees are available to Colby-Sawyer students in any major but are especially good options for those graduating in the college’s environmental studies, environmental science and community-based sustainability programs. The graduate programs are also an extension of Colby-Sawyer’s focus on experiential learning and professional preparation; every Colby-Sawyer student completes at least one internship.
An articulation agreement with the Community College of Vermont was established in 2013. The Community College of Vermont is the state’s second largest college, serving over 7,000 students each semester. With twelve locations and extensive online learning options, students participate in degree and certificate programs, workforce, secondary and continuing education opportunities, and academic and veterans support services.
As part of our Articulation Agreement with the Community College of Vermont, GMC is committed to making college more affordable so you can continue your education and earn a bachelor’s degree. In addition to automatic acceptance into a bachelor’s degree program, Green Mountain College is excited to provide these special offers to CCV graduates:
- On Campus: Eligible students will receive The Vermont Tuition Match Scholarship worth $20,500 annually!
- Online: Eligible students will receive a reduced tuition rate of just $300 per credit!
GMC became a participating institution for the Coverdell Fellowship program as of February 2016. The Paul D. Coverdell Fellowship Program (formerly known as Fellows USA) is a graduate fellowship program that offers financial assistance to returned Peace Corps volunteers. All Fellows complete internships in underserved American communities, allowing them to bring home, and expand upon, the skills they learned as volunteers.
Awarding up to three fellowships each year, Coverdell Fellows accepted to MS Environmental Studies program will receive a 50% tuition discount throughout the program and up to $1000 for travel expenses to attend the annual MSES residency held on campus in Vermont each fall.
Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) is a non-profit, statewide business trade organization with a mission to advance business ethics that value multiple bottom lines—economic, social, and environmental. The organization strives to help members set a high standard for protecting the natural, human and economic environments of the state’s residents, while remaining profitable.
As a VBSR member organization, GMC gives back to our peers by contributing an education benefit that is available to employees of any VBSR member organization. The VBSR Education Benefit provides eligible students with a 10% tuition discount towards the Sustainable MBA program or the Online Degree Completion program. An educational partnership agreement was established in February 2016 with The Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC). VYCC is a nonprofit youth, leadership, service, conservation, and education organization that instills in individuals the values of personal responsibility, hard work, education, and respect for the environment. This is accomplished by using conservation projects as the vehicle for learning in an intense environment.
Current and former members of the VYCC are now eligible for Green Mountain College’s Educational Partnership Agreement scholarship which amounts to a 15% tuition discount for any of our online programs or $20,500 annually towards full time on campus studies.
