Green Mountain College is committed to affordability you can count on.
Through our many affordability programs, each year Green Mountain College awards scholarships/grants of over $10 million dollars. Our financial aid team will work with you to make sure that you receive all of the financial aid for which you are eligible.
When considering the costs to attend college, it is important to understand the difference between “sticker price” and “net price.” The “sticker price” is the stated tuition, room, board and other fees/costs listed by a college. The “net price” is the price the student will actually pay, after all financial aid is awarded.
While GMC’s sticker price may be higher than some other colleges, the net price, after financial aid, is often lower, and potentially much lower.
Our affordability programs include guarantees, and merit, need, application based, and non application based scholarship awards. Below is an overview of the different programs – click the links to learn more.
Guarantees – provided to all undergraduate students, these 3 guarantees are 1) frozen tuition, 2) four year, and 3) textbook. These guarantees freeze your tuition for all years at your first year rate, cover any tuition needed to complete courses beyond the 4th year (you must meet certain requirements), and provide all of your textbooks for no additional cost. Merit Based Scholarships – Merit-Based Scholarships ranging from $6,000 to $10,000 are allocated to students based on their academic achievement in high school and college. These scholarships are only given for the first year of attendance at GMC. Click Merit Based Scholarships to learn more.
Need Based Awards – available to all undergraduate students for all four years, Need-Based Grants are based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and other following factors. To be eligible for Need Based Awards the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be completed. Click Need Based Scholarships to learn more.
Application Based Scholarships – available to all undergraduate students who complete the necessary application for the specific scholarship(s). Scholarship amounts range from hundreds to thousands of dollars plus one award for tuition, room, board and fees for all four years. Application deadlines and notification depend on the scholarship. Click Application Based Scholarships to learn more.
Non-Application Based Scholarships – available to all undergraduate students who meet the requirements for the specific scholarship(s). Scholarship amounts range from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Click Non-Application Based Scholarships to learn more.
Note that under no circumstances may the total amount of financial aid awarded be greater than the total cost to attend GMC. Recipients of the Albany/Boston initiative scholarships awarded to Pell eligible students from specific schools in those cities are not eligible for any other scholarship.
