Available to all undergraduate students for all four years, Need-Based Grants are based on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and are influenced by the following factors:
- The information you provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Federal Grants that you receive (i.e. the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) or the Pell Grant),
- State scholarships you are awarded
- Your eligibility to participate in the Federal Work Study Program, and
Outside awards that you receive from secondary schools, civic organizations, your parent’s employers, corporations, the National Merit Scholarship Programs, the G.I. Bill, and the ROTC.
Once your EFC has been calculated, GMC will take into account federal, state, and private grants you are eligible for and then determine whether you are eligible to receive an additional need-based grant from the College. Need-based grants from GMC are called an Authentic Sustainability 2020 Grant. Eligibility for this grant is based on demonstrated financial need and is awarded to all eligible applicants. The amount of the grant varies dependent on the recipient’s need.
