Anne Brushaber Stormont age 88 of Hendersonville, North Carolina died January 29th 2017. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Stormont. Known to her classmates as “Brooklyn” and described in her yearbook as “the live wire from Ames second alley”, Anne was a very involved student as the Editor of Peaks and served on the staff of The Mountaineer.
After retiring from her position as the Secretary to the Vice President at American Can Company in 1998, Anne lived an active life, she was involved in several local organizations including the Hendersonville Film Society, the Women’s University Club of New York, and the English Speaking Union. She also enjoyed travel, sewing and photography.
Her connection to Green Mountain College never faded, and she remained engaged in the community as an alumna. In fact, she was awarded the first Annual Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 1965. Since then she served as the Alumni Director of Alumni Association, served on the Board of Trustees from 1969 to 1985, and was active in her 50th Reunion planning in 1996. Anne and her dedication to Green Mountain College will be remembered through a generous bequest to the College.
