Green Mountain women’s volleyball went 2-1 through three matches this past week. On Wednesday, the Eagles scored a 3-0 sweep of College of St. Joseph. On Sunday, the team split a pair of games played at SUNY Delhi. In the first match, GMC played well but was upset 3-1. The second match saw the women emerge with a 3-1 victory. Estela Felix Almeida led the Eagles with 35 kills, 42 digs, 10 service aces and three blocks.
Women’s soccer received two goals and three assists from Maya Golowasch and another pair of goals from Avery Barber in a comfortable 9-0 win in its lone game of the week against Villa Maria on Monday.
Men’s soccer played just one game this week, giving up a 4-0 decision to Berkeley College (NJ) on Saturday afternoon. GMC’s goalkeeper, Sawyer Levy, was named the Association of Independent Institutions‘ Soccer Player of the Week award for the first week of October.
Women’s cross country raced to a fourth place finish out of nine teams in its final meet of the season at its home course at the College on Saturday morning. Luna Collins was among a host of Eagles to establish a personal record with her 12th place finish in a time of 21:21.
Green Mountain men’s cross country team concluded its season with a slew of personal bests as it claimed a sixth place finish in Saturday’s race as the Eagles hosted the 11 annual GMC Invitational on its home course. Birch Swart captured 12th place overall in the race and bested his previous personal best by almost half a minute with a time of 29:19.
