Jumping Right In

Overview
The students are up early, being bussed to Universidade Metodista de São Paulo, the Methodist-affiliated University in São Bernardo, a suburb of São Paulo. They meet with Vanessa Martins, head of the international program, and Professor Waverli Neuberger, a biologist, who graciously welcome them. After a meet and greet, the students are directed to the cafeteria, where they all make valiant efforts at ordering lunch in Portuguese. Some succeed, some fail, but none go hungry. After lunch the students are taken on an introductory tour of campus by two Brazilian students, who show them the wide array of facilities at Metodista. A long first day on campus is followed by dinner at a restaurant down the street from the hotel, and a taste of Brazilian cuisine and beverage.
