Water Politics

With only two days left before the student groups give final presentations on their projects, everyone is working extra hard. After a morning of preparation, the group heads to downtown Piracicaba for a lecture by a local politician. The students hear the Brazilian national anthem and see a beautiful video representation before the politician speaks. The topic of discussion is the Piracicaba River and the water that the citizens of Piracicaba receive. Much water is diverted from the river to provide for the people of São Paulo because so much of the water is so heavily polluted. Solutions are trying to be created that would encourage compliance with the law, be affordable for citizens and accomplish the ultimate goal: to provide clean drinking water for everyone. After the lecture, the group has dinner with all the Brazilian students at restaurant nearby. All retire to Fazendinha before the final work day.
