Bachelor of Science in Business
B.S. in Business graduates acquire knowledge and learn skills necessary to develop and maintain competitive advantage in business organizations. The B.S. in Business graduate is equipped with the tools (1) for successful careers in a variety of different management positions; (2) to start their own businesses; or (3) to pursue additional business studies at the graduate level, based on a solid academic foundation. Graduates of our programs have gone on to a variety of successful careers within the financial services sector, banking, human services, and manufacturing, among others. Students are required to undertake an internship to round out their classroom training and gain experience functioning within a professional setting. The Business Department faculty strives to allow students a wide range of opportunities to apply theory to real business problems and to gain insights from practitioners working in the field.

Students may also combine coursework from Business and another Department using the Interdisciplinary Studies Major. A model template for an Interdisciplinary Studies Major focusing on Arts Management is shown under Visual and Performing Arts.

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management
The Environmental Management major emphasizes the intersection between business, environmental science and public policy. Corporations once understood their obligations toward the environment primarily in the context of compliance with appropriate laws and regulations. Today, however, many corporations seek to go “beyond compliance” and view environmental management as a key business strategy for gaining a competitive advantage and new business opportunities in the global marketplace. Driven by growing consumer demands for enhanced environmental performance and greater knowledge about sustainability risks, businesses, government agencies, and non-profit groups are increasingly seeking employees with a strong understanding of the linkages between business, environmental science, and public policy. Drawing upon the College’s strengths in environmental liberal arts, students completing a degree in Environmental Management are prepared to pursue a variety of different careers in both the private and public sectors. In addition, graduates are also well positioned for graduate study in many different disciplines including law, business, and public policy.
