The Coalition for Students of Color on campus is working on publishing its first “zine.” A zine is a small six-page publication that can contain anything from creative writing to illustration. We would like the content of this first zine to come from the students, faculty and staff at GMC.
When it comes to discussing topics we find hard to approach, storytelling can often provide the ethos necessary for understanding. For this reason the Coalition for Students of Color would like you to help us break down racism through the sharing of stories.
We are looking for stories and/or poems from any and all GMC students about their experience with racism. Whether you were on the receiving end of a racist event or an outsider looking in, understanding what constitutes racism, and how we can work to prevent it in our community, means that all stories that explore and give context to the experience of racism are valuable.
Please send your writing (or any questions/concerns) to Jenna Ring (email@example.com) or Angelica King (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you would like your work to be anonymous please indicate so with your submission. We are accepting submissions until Monday, November 30th.
