Hava Villaverde earned a B.A. in Linguistics from Binghamton University and a law degree from the University of Miami School of Law. Hava practiced for many years thereafter in corporate and law firm settings in Florida.
In December of 2013, Hava joined the Corporate Group of Ross Environmental Services, Inc. based in Elyria, Ohio—currently serving as the organization’s Corporate Senior Attorney.
Hava’s background includes regulatory compliance, real estate development and construction, property management and leasing, environmental management including transportation and fuel, and waste and facility management. Hava’s role has also encompassed retail grocery, food banking, and food safety, including food waste donation and diversion between retail and food bank partners.
Hava joined Green Mountain College in 2014 as a professor in the Masters in Sustainable Food Systems program, allowing Hava to continue work in creating a sustainable food system, with a focus on food waste issues. Hava works with others throughout the United States within the food industry to help make our production, distribution and disposal systems more sustainable, and help organizations looking to reduce their impact on our planet.
