The Family Farm Forum

One of the nation's leading sustainable agriculture figures, Fred Kirschenman, talks with Jesse Pyles, campus coordinator of service learning and greening. Kirschenman spent Earth Week at Green Mountain in spring 2006 and led a Family Farm Forum discussion.

Connecting scholars and scientists to farmers and experts in the community.
The Family Farm Forum is an annual series of talks and open discussions that include farmers and agriculture experts from the community, and scholars from Green Mountain College and other educational, government and non-profit organizations throughout Vermont and the country. Past themes since the series began in 2003 have included, "Planning for Agriculturally-Focused Communities: Working Together for a Working Landscape," and "Small Farms in a Big World." Last year, each session included a dinner of locally grown food, followed by discussion with local farmers in the East Room of Withey Hall.
