Is there a space to process my produce prior to freezing?
Yes! There is a newly renovated commercial kitchen located in the Green Mountain College Solar Harvest Center available for use. Contact Garland Mason at masong@greenmtn.edu for details.
How long will it take to freeze my produce?
The length of time required to freeze varies by the water content, shape, and size of produce. Small berries and corn kernels are generally quickest, corn-on-the-cob and squash puree will take longer. The freezer can reach temperatures below zero.
Is there a fee associated with using the unit?
We are currently working on a fee structure for use. Please email Garland at masong@greenmtn.edu for the most up-to-date information if you are interested in using the unit.
Can I come see/use the unit?
Of course! Contact Garland at masong@greenmtn.edu or 802-287-2940 if you are interested in coming to Poultney to see the unit or if you would like to use the unit.
