Ramona Africa: What The Media Never Told You About MOVE

Wednesday, December 14, 2016 - 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Ramona Africa is the sole adult survivor of the May 13, 1985 massacre of 11 members of the MOVE organization orchestrated by the FBI and the City of Philadelphia. After surviving the bombing, she was charged with conspiracy, riot, and multiple counts of simple and aggravated assault, and imprisoned for seven years. Since being released, Ramona has worked as the MOVE Minster of communication on behalf of the MOVE 9 and Mumia Abu-Jamal. The May 13 assault was the culmination of many years of political repression faced by MOVE at the hands of Philadelphia authorities. Come hear Ramona talk about her experience, the work of MOVE and fight to free Mumia Abu-Jamal and other political prisoners. Organized by Students for Justice in Palestine at GMC.
