REED Fall 2016 Lecture with Liz Calabrese: Biophilic Design

Wednesday, October 19, 2016 - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Biophilia is the inherent human inclination to affiliate with nature that even in the modern world continues to be critical to people’s physical and mental health and well being. One of the most significant impediments to the positive experience of nature today is the prevailing paradigm of design and development of the modern built environment. This is especially problematic, because while humans may have evolved in the natural world, the “natural habitat” of contemporary people has largely become the indoor built environment where we now spend 90% of our time.
