Trustee Emerita Barbara Wellnitz Wins Lifetime Achievement Award BOSTON, Mass. -- Barbara W. Wellnitz, of Brewster Mass., was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award by her colleagues at the Public Relations Society of America's (PRSA) Boston chapter, the professional association of public relations practitioners. The annual Diane Davis Beacon Award for Lifetime Achievement recognizes one member in good standing after a careful nomination process by a peer group of PRSA Boston members who are also accredited public relations professionals. An active member in the chapter's leadership and former PRSA Boston president, Ms Wellnitz was also awarded the national society's highest honor by election into the College of Fellows, an honorary society representing the top two percent of public relations professionals who are members of PRSA. Her background includes journalism, business management, agency management, solo practice as a public relations counselor, agency owner with Hugh Ryan of Ryan Wellnitz & Associates, and 12 years of active service on the PRSA board of directors. While serving PRSA, running a business, writing articles and leading workshops, Ms. Wellnitz served as a trustee at Green Mountain College, one of her alma maters, for 12 years and as chair of the Board of Trustees 2003-2009. She also provided leadership for two national searches for presidents of the College and a successful capital campaign. "Barbara Wellnitz is an outstanding individual professionally, ethically and personally," said Ann Getman, APR, one of her co-nominators and a PRSA Boston former president. "She is an inspiration to her colleagues, clients, peers and the community with her qualities of strategic and practical skills, intelligence, integrity, and humility." Barbara and Bruce Wellnitz moved from Foxboro, Mass. to Brewster, Mass. in 2009 after several years as summer residents. For more information about PRSA Boston, visit prsaboston.org Front Page |
