Residency Sessions
During the course of your graduate studies, you will participate in two brief on-campus residencies - one at the beginning of each academic year. The residencies will take place at the college campus and be led by Green Mountain College faculty. Visiting practitioners and business scholars will also participate.
The 2007 residency takes place as students conclude the first MBA course: Communications Management. The residency session will begin on Thursday, September 20, and run through Sunday, September 23. Events will include an official welcome to Green Mountain College, a reception and dinner with the Business faculty, and presentations by Will Raap.
In addition to sessions dedicated to foundational skills for graduate programs and to demonstration of Masters-level competencies, an orientation of student services, distance learning technology, and success strategies for working professionals will be examined. One outcome of the residency will be the student's prospectus (or blueprint) that articulates a specific goal and plan that will evolve into the learner's MBA Capstone Project. This course will include students from for-profit and non-profit concentrations.

We are pleased to present Will Raap, founder and chairman of the popular Gardener's Supply Company and the Intervale Foundation, as our Keynote Speaker for the 2007 GMC MBA Residency. In this role, he will lead discussions about the opportunities and challenges associated with effective sustainable business organizations and careers. Raap founded Gardener's Supply in 1983 after an accomplished career with many major corporations. Gardener's Supply is now employee-owned, with over 200 employees. Raap earned his B.A. in Economics from UC Davis and his Master's degree in Business and Urban Planning from UC Berkley. Will is chairman of the Board for the Intervale Foundation, and he sits on the boards of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, Vermont Partnership for Environmental Technology and Science, Vermont Sustainable Agriculture Advisory Council and Living Technologies, Inc.
