Celebrating Ten Years of Adventure

Since 2001 Green Mountain College Adventure Programming (GreenMAP) has been the door to adventure and outdoor education for the Green Mountain College Community.

GreenMAP provides low cost equipment rentals, recreational and instructional adventure programs, and the Wilderness Challenge, GMC's wilderness orientation program for new students.

At the heart of the program are the GreenMAP Trip Leaders. The trip leader program is a leadership commitment combining structured experience development, activity specific training, wilderness medicine, mentoring, reflection, and evaluation. Many GMC graduates cite their GreenMap experiences as some of their most rewarding.

The GreenMAP Office and Rental Shop is located in the basement of Withey Hall on the GMC Campus, and is open from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Contact the office at 287-8383 or greenmap@greenmtn.edu.

Congratulations to Jamie Bernstien for winning the AORE student Literary Award!

The following students recently completed their Level 1 Telemark Instructor Course: Summer Reed, Emily Christensen, Nick Rushford, Nick McEachren, Anna Saco, Cameron Pall, Sandra Townsend & faculty John Van Hoesen. The course focused on both personal skiing ability and teaching methodologies and was taught by PSIA Examiner Jim Tasse.

The following students recently completed their Avalanche Level 1 training at Mt. Washington: Summer Reed, Emily Christensen, Nick Rushford, Nick McEachren, Anna Saco, Cameron Pall, Sandra Townsend, Scott Morris. The course focused on decision making and evaluation of avalanche terrain and was taught by renowned guide Jon Tiereny.

The Northeast Collegiate Outdoor Skills Symposium will be held at Green Mountain College May 21-25. Registration is now open!
