The Peer Tutoring program is a free service available to all GMC students and is designed to help students progress towards academic success. Our easy-to-use system allows students to make and keep their own tutoring appointments. Tutors are available in many different courses and major disciplines. Their lab hours are posted in the green binder that sits on the tutor desk, which is located on the third floor of the Griswold Library. Each tutor also has business cards with their hours and tutoring information available under the tutor photo board in the Learning Center.
Spring 2014 Tutor List
All peer tutors are hired upon recommendation from their professors; they must have at least sophomore standing and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
How to sign up for a tutor:
To sign up to work with a tutor, students should first check the green binder in the Learning Center to see when tutors are available.
Once they find a tutor that suits their needs and schedule, students should write their full name, the course name, and the professor's name in the appropriate time slot.
When students meet the tutor in the Learning Center at the time they have chosen, they should be on time, bringing all of the materials and course assignment information with them so that the tutoring session runs smoothly.
During each tutoring session the tutor will fill out a Tutor Slip, which will be sent to the appropriate instructor. The completed tutor slip serves the students by permitting their professors to see what academic support they are receiving, better enabling the faculty to monitor their students' progress.
