As a parent, friend or family member of a Green Mountain College student, you are invited to visit campus for the Alumni and Family Weekend, Friday, September 27th through Sunday, September 29th. Cheer on our soccer teams, enjoy the Green Mountain College Choir, and taste the competing creations at the Poultney Chili Cook-Off. There will also be an opportunity to join President Fonteyn for coffee and discussion Saturday morning at his residence.

Our faculty opens the classroom doors to welcome you to experience again the excitement of learning. Rediscover the small class size and individual attention you enjoyed when you were here. Take this opportunity to rub shoulders with our faculty and students. Stop by the family information table at the Withey Hall Lobby for a schedule of class options.

Sunset Foliage Hike
Lewis Dean Nature Preserve/departs from WIthey Lobby
Join a College guide for a hike to the top of the Lewis Deane Nature Preserve just ten minutes from campus. The College-owned preserve located on Saint Catherine Mountain is the perfect vantage point to view the beauty of fall foliage season in Vermont, particularly at the peak overlooking Lake St. Catherine and the Slate Valley.

Alumni Art Gala
William Feick Art Gallery
Meet the artists at the opening gala of the GMC alumni art exhibition. The exhibit features the works of Susan Barrows Wood'63, Jennifer Gioe Peper'91, Carrie Hayes'04, Alexander Churchill'08 and Patrick Girard'08. The gallery will be open throughout the weekend for contemplation on your own.

Returning to campus wouldn’t be complete without a GMC Choir concert! Enjoy a rich variety of choral music and join our student voices in singing the College song Lux Fiat.

Enjoy coffee and light pastries to start your day with President Fonteyn, faculty and staff. Connect with other parents and join a discussion about the partnership between Green Mountain and families to help with your student’s success.

Campus Sustainability and Cerridwen Farm Tours
Departs from Withey Lobby
Join our talented faculty and staff members for tours of these campus highlights. Learn how GMC became the first college in the U.S. to reach carbon neutrality by means of increasing campus efficiencies and renewable energy. Dig into how the Farm & Food Project at Cerridwen Farm adds to the health and well-being of the College community. Hear from our experts how each of these programs will pursue the goals in our exciting strategic plan, Sustainability 2020.

Annual Poultney Rotary Chili Cookoff
Main Street Poultney
Take in this spicy annual event. Stroll down Main Street, buy a tasting mug and submit your vote for the best chili recipe in Poultney. Support this local service organization and enjoy.

Historic Tour of Poultney
Richardson Alumni House
Rediscover the historic connection between the College, founded in 1834, and the town of Poultney. Start with an audio-visual tour narrated by Vermont's master storyteller Willem Lange and produced by the Poultney Historical Society. Then take to the streets by foot, bike or car and see the historic architecture on your own.

Bentley Hall Renovations Tour
Corner of College St. and Bentley Ave.
Celebrate the restoration of this grand house remembered variously as a private home, residence for women faculty, honors dormitory and dean's residence. After much careful and thoughtful work, made possible with funding from federal grants, individual donors and the College, this rehabilitated c.1900 Queen Anne-Colonial style house, historically known as the C.W. Humphrey House, reopens as a community meeting and events center for the College and the town.

Digital Fabrication Laboratory(FabLab) Tour
Departs from Withey Lobby
Join the co-director of our Renewable Energy and Ecological Design (REED) Program for a tour of its new FabLab facility in downtown Poultney. Discover how the lab allows GMC students to acquire skills using digital fabrication technologies by translating digital information into material products. Learn more about how the new lab is preparing REED majors for the workplace with skills in both analog and digital technologies.

Eagle Athletic Barbeque
Soccer field tent behind Withey Hall
Fuel up for the day's soccer action with a traditional barbeque overlooking the field. Classic grilled food such as burgers and hot dogs as well as salads and chips will get you ready to root for the Eagle teams as they take on their conference opponents.

NAC Division III Men's and Women's Soccer games
Soccer Fields behind Withey Hall
Cheer the GMC soccer teams on to victory as they each take on North Atlantic Conference opponent Husson University. Fill the bleachers and join the campus community spectators for scissor-kicks, headers and goals.

Athletic Hall of Fame Inductions
The Gorge/Withey Hall
Join the Athletic Department and current GMC sports teams as they welcome individuals and teams of distinguished alumni into the GMC Athletic Hall of Fame. Honoring student-athletes who balanced their college sports careers with their academic studeies and then went on to great things in their post-college lives, three inductions will take place for a coach, a team and an individual who excelled in athletics at GMC.

"Light Up the Gorge" Student Collaborative Music Project
The Gorge/Withey Hall
Don't miss these students musical performances that highlight the uniqueness of being part of the GMC community. Student musicians, randomly placed with others to form bands, have practiced together for one week to perform. Sit back and appreciate the results of this Collaborative Music Project under the new lighting system made possible by the Class of 1963's "Light Up the Gorge" fundraising campaign.

Be sure to stop by the farm stand where students from our farm crew sell fresh, organic GMC-raised produce. Enjoy the fruits of their labor and take home some wholesome food while supporting our Farm and Food Project.

NAC Division III Women's and Men's Soccer Games
Soccer Fields behind Withey Hall
Support the GMC soccer teams for the back end of their doubleheader weekend as they each battle North Atlantic Conference rival Maine Maritime Academy. Come join the campus community and cheer on our eagles before heading home.

What dining options are available?
Meals are available from our dining services as indicated on the schedule. If you are planning to eat on campus, please RSVP to help us with our planning. Payments can be made at the door for each meal. The Poultney Rotary Club Annual Chili Cookoff on Main Street takes place on Saturday, September 28 and is a great lunch option.
