As a parent, friend or family member of a Green Mountain College student, you are invited to visit campus for the Alumni and Family Weekend, Friday, September 26th through Sunday, September 28th. Cheer on our soccer teams, attend the art gala, and taste the competing creations at the Poultney Chili Cook-Off. There will also be an opportunity to join President Fonteyn for coffee and discussion Saturday morning.

Stop by Green Mountain College’s Office of Career and Personal Development to hear about how personal and career development is integrated across your student's curriculum both in and out of the classroom and other resources such as skills assessments, career and internship planning, and post-baccalaureate opportunities available to your student.

Art and Music Gala

Join students and faculty for a student art exhibition, featuring musical performances by students and faculty of the GMC Music Program, vocal performances from the GMC Choir, and bluegrass music by Prof. Sarah Mittlefehldt and husband John Gillette. Then stroll over to The Feick Art Gallery to see contemporary American abstract oil paintings by Galen Cheney. Enjoy refreshments along the way.

Enjoy coffee and light pastries to start your day with President Fonteyn, faculty and staff. Connect with other parents and join a discussion about the partnership between Green Mountain and families to help with your student’s success.
Campus Tours: Renewable Energy and Cerridwen Farm
10:30am & 11:30am | Departing from Withey Lobby
Join our expert faculty and staff members for tours of these campus highlights. On the first tour, learn how GMC became the first college in the U.S. to reach carbon neutrality by means of increasing campus efficiencies and renewable energy. Next, visit Cerridwen Farm to learn how the Farm & Food Project adds to the health and well-being of the College community.
Annual Poultney Rotary Chili Cook-off
10:30am - 1:30pm | Downtown Poultney
Enjoy the vibrancy of downtown Poultney as you take in this spicy event. Buy a tasting mug and submit your vote for the best chili recipe concocted by faculty, staff, students and community members. Support this local service organization while and enjoy!

Bean Burgers 101
1:00pm - 2:00pm | Cerridwen Farm Solar Harvest Center
Join alumnus Joseph Bossen '08 of VT Bean Crafters in the Solar Harvest Center's Community Commercial Kitchen to learn how to produce his company's staple, the veggie burger. In this hands-on demo "Basics of Homemade Veggie Burgers from Scratch," you'll receive step by step guidance on how to create these delicious and nutritious patties at home.
NAC Division III Men's and Women's Soccer games
1:00pm and 3:00pm start times | GMC Soccer Fields(behind Withey Hall)
Cheer the GMC soccer teams on to victory as they each take on North Atlantic Conference opponent University of Maine-Farminton.. Fill the bleachers and join the campus community spectators for scissor-kicks, headers and goals.
Historic Tour of Poultney
2:00pm - 3:00pm | Richardson Alumni House
Rediscover the historic connection between the College, founded in 1834, and the town of Poultney. Start with an audio-visual tour narrated by Vermont's master storyteller Willem Lange and produced by the Poultney Historical Society. Then take to the streets by foot, bike, or car and see the historic architecture on your own.
Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
5:30pm - 7:00pm | The Gorge, Withey Hall
Join the Athletic Department and current GMC sports teams as they welcome individuals and teams of distinguished alumni into the GMC Athletic Hall of Fame. Honored this year are Alan Madden '98, Peter Lundvall '02, Erica Knoloff '03, and the 2000-2001 Women's Soccer Team.

Student Collaborative Music Project

Don't miss these students musical performances that highlight the uniqueness of being part of the GMC community. Student musicians, randomly placed with others to form bands, have practiced together for one week to perform. Sit back and appreciate the results of this Collaborative Music Project.

Be sure to stop by the farm stand where students from our farm crew sell fresh, organic GMC-raised produce. Enjoy the fruits of their labor and take home some wholesome food while supporting our Farm and Food Project.

Support the GMC soccer teams for the back end of their doubleheader weekend as they each battle North Atlantic Conference rival Thomas College.

What dining options are available?
Meals are available from our dining services as indicated on the schedule. If you are planning to eat on campus, please RSVP
to help us with our planning. Payments can be made at the door for each meal. The Poultney Rotary Club Annual Chili Cookoff on Main Street takes place on Saturday, September 28 and is a great lunch option.
