Residence Life
The Residence Life team is responsible for student housing at Green Mountain College. We strive to encourage a supportive and respectful living environment that meets the needs of students and aligns with the College's mission.
The coordinator of residence life oversees dorm operations and reports to the director of residence life. Complex coordinators are student leaders who assist the residence life coordinator. These staff members, along with resident assistants (RAs), are responsible for residence hall administration and the well-being of students in their buildings. RAs are selected on a competitive basis and are trained in emergency response and community building.
Dorm Life
There are six residence halls on campus: Ames, Bogue, Cree, Lyman, Moses and North.
All residence halls house both first-year students and upperclassmen. Roughly 90 percent of GMC students live on-campus.
All campus residence halls are co-educational and equipped with study areas, lounges, laundry facilities, and vending machines. The majority of rooms accommodate two students. Rooms include desks, beds, bureaus, bookcases and full video, voice and data services for all students.
As part of a living-learning community model, students with similar academic paths or lifestyles may live together in the same floor community. The following options are currently available:
- Creative Arts Floor
- Adventure Recreation Floor
- Sustainable Living Floor
- Quiet Floor (three available)
- Substance-Free Floor
- Honors Floor
All residence halls are smoke-free. Those who wish to smoke may do so in designated areas of the campus.
