The College Choir
The College Choir is open to all members of the student body as a creative outlet through singing. Performances of standard choral repertoire such as folk, ballads, and sacred music provide the group with a traditional focus, while exploration of other styles such as jazz and pop broaden and enrich the singing experience. The choir rehearses on Tuesday and Thursdays and normally presents two performances each semester. The choir has performed throughout New England, Washington DC, Florida, North Carolina, New York, California and has toured Wales 5 times since 1998. No audition required.
Cantorion is a select group of singers, chosen by audition to perform standard a cappella repertoire. The group maintains a rigorous performance schedule, which includes numerous concerts, special campus functions and an annual tour. Audition required.
The GMC/Community Concert Band
The GMC Concert Band provides students and area community musicians the opportunity to perform traditional concert band and wind ensemble literature. The band rehearses on Thursday evenings, culminating in a major performance at the end of each semester. Musical repertoire has included music by Holst, Granger, Vaughan Williams, Copland and transcriptions by Handel, Corelli, and various other composers. No audition required.
The GMC Jazz Band provides students the opportunity to perform with local professional jazz musicians. Repertoire is drawn from contemporary big band literature, small combo charts and an array of Latin music. The ensemble rehearses on Monday nights. No audition required.
The Green Mountaineers Folk Ensemble
The Green Mountaineers is a high energy group that performs “old time” folk music ranging from the mountains of New England to Appalachia. In addition to singing, members play a variety of acoustic instruments such as fiddle, mandolin, guitar, string bass and banjo. The ensemble rehearses on Tuesday nights. No audition required.
