Green Mountain College does not have a dedicated in-house video production service, but there are several video resources on campus that can assist with instructional or promotional video needs.
Griswold Library: The library can provide audio visual equipment including flip video cameras, camcorders, webcams and tripods. Limited videography services are offered, but are dependent on availability of student videographers and equipment. Reservations of equipment (with 48 hours notice) can be made online through the MYGMC forms page (https://mygmc.greenmtn.edu/ICS/GMC_Forms/) The CTS department (basement of Griswold) can assist with various video requests including transfer of data (i.e. tape to disk). Turnaround time is dependent on scope and complexity of the project. A two-week turnaround time is the general rule for these requests.
Communications Studies (Academic): The communications department has two video cameras (Canon HDR-FX1 and Canon XA10) primarily used for class projects by students enrolled in communications courses. If you are interested in discussing video projects that might be completed by communications students as part of fulfilling their course requirements, contact communications prof. Jason Schmitt (firstname.lastname@example.org). He would be happy to discuss on a case-by-case basis.
Ackley Hall Productions: Given specialized lighting and audio conditions for this space, if you are interested in a video recording of events in Ackley please contact GMC technical director Ben Jankowski (email@example.com.). Services are dependent on Ben’s availability. Please provide at least one week notice for audio or sound requirements.
Communications Department (Administrative): The communications department has limited staff time for producing short videos that meet high production standards for use on the GMC website and the College’s YouTube channel. If you are interested in a video project that will have a long shelf life (videos that can function for several years as promotional videos on the website) please contact communications director Kevin Coburn (firstname.lastname@example.org).
If video requests cannot be performed through in-house sources, here is a list of recommended local video production companies:
West View Digital (Andrew Wilson) email@example.com
Video Unlimited (Scott Switzer) firstname.lastname@example.org
Dave Warrender email@example.com
