Three Women Named to All-Conference Hoop Team
Coach Heath Grabs Coach of the Year
POULTNEY, VT (March 12, 2008) - The Association of Division III Independent Conference announced the All-Conference teams for Women's Basketball this week. Green Mountain College was honored by having three women's basketball players named.
Sophomore forward Emma Buckley (Lakeville, CT) lead all of Division III for blocked shots with 118 for the season at 5.4 per game and was named First Team All-Conference. Emma scored 234 points, averaging 11 per game, and rebounded 218 for a 9.9 per game average. She played in 22 out of 24 games for the 17-7 Eagles.
Junior forward Christina Chamberlin (Woodstock, VT) was named Third Team All-Conference. Chamberlin's season output was 11.9 points per game (273 total points) and 8.2 rebounds per game (189 total rebounds). She was named to the Merry Monk All-Tournament Team at Saint Joseph's College in Maine earlier in the year , and also made the All-Tournament Team at the Association of Division III Independent's Northeast Regional Championships.
Freshman forward Molly Hopper (Gouverneur, NY) was also honored with placement on the third team. Hopper contributed with 9.8 points per game (225 total points), 6.8 rebounds per game (157 total rebounds), and came off the bench in all but six games. Molly was named the MVP of the Merry Monk Tournament at Saint Joseph's College in Maine.
Eagle's head coach Jen Heath was named the Coach of the Year for the Conference. Heath has turned around an Eagles program that won nine games last year and improved to 17 wins in 2007-08. Green Mountain won the AD3I Women’s Northeast Region Championship with a 64-48 victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth.
The All-Independent Women’s Basketball teams were selected by the women’s basketball coaches from member schools of the Association of Division III Independents.
