Feick Fine Arts Center to Host
Mariella Bisson Exhibit
POULTNEY – An exhibit titled “On the Bank’s Green Edge: River, Stream and Forest Works by Mariella Bisson” opened at Green Mountain College’s Feick Fine Arts Center August 9. The reception will be held September 2 from 4 – 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
Bisson uses a unique method to create collages depicting natural scenes. She begins outside, bringing a “portable kit of watercolor and gouache into the forest” to create a small on-site rendering. She then takes this work back to the studio, where she makes a larger version of the field drawings and transforms them into a collage.
“As I translate a painting into a collage, I emphasize edges of form and depth of landscape space,” she says in her artist biography. “Layers of paint, paper and charcoal create surfaces to emulate textures of rock, water and foliage.”
Bisson’s work is included in corporate collections and museums around the world. She holds a B.F.A. in drawing from the Pratt Institute and is an instructor at the Woodstock School of Art in Woodstock, N.Y.
The Feick Fine Arts Center is open from Monday – Friday from 1 – 5 p.m. “On the Bank’s Green Edge” will be on display through September 10.
