Green Mountain College Presents The Neo-Futurist Project

POULNEY—The Green Mountain theater department presents this improvisatory show in the College’s Ackley Theater Friday and Saturday March 22-23 at 7 p.m. The Neo-Futurist Project was first developed in Chicago in 1988 and consists of 30 short plays performed within 60 minutes. The show is written, directed and performed by a small student ensemble. The director is GMC sophomore Nora Alexander. Both performances are free and open to the public.

Neo-Futurism, inspired by the Italian Futurist movement from the early 20th century, is based on the aesthetics of honesty, speed and brevity. The performance does not rely on the audience’s "suspension of disbelief" but takes place in the here and now. Actors only play themselves. The plays can be wildly eclectic, touching on all genres including satire, tragedy, musical, comic or surreal.
