GMC Hosts Concert with Welsh Flavor

POULTNEY, VT - The Green Mountain College Choir and Cantorion and the Saengerfest Men’s Choir present a lively concert in the great Welsh tradition on Saturday, April 19, in GMC’s Ackley Auditorium.

Director of Vocal and Instrumental Music James Cassarino directs the Green Mountain College Choir. He is joined on the program by James Roth, Musical Director for Saengerfest. Paul Opel will serve as accompanist.

Since the establishment of the Welsh Room archive in 1979, Green Mountain College has played an important role in helping to preserve the Welsh cultural legacy in North America. The Saengerfest Men's Chorus is made up of about 70 male choristers based in the Greater Boston area. It was formed in 1992 after some 45 members of the parent Saengerfest were invited by the officers of the London Welsh Male Voice Choir to participate in the Festival of Welsh Male Choirs in London's Royal Albert Hall. Since then, the chorus has returned to London three times, performing at Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling 802-287-8325.
