Feick Hosts Reception for Book Artist Exhibit

POULTNEY, VT (May 30, 2008) – On Thursday, June 5, the Feick Arts Center at Green Mountain College hosts an opening reception for an exhibit of pop-up, folding artist books and two-dimensional collage monotypes from Vermont artist Carolyn Shattuck.

The reception is from 4 to 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Shattuck moved to the United States from Montreal, Canada, in 1971. She studied painting at Bard College, and after graduating, continued to paint while developing a unique printing method using the monotype as a base. For the past decade, she has focused on book arts, and in her work combines drawing and print assemblage techniques in three-dimensional form.

Shattuck shows her work nationally at juried exhibitions including Delta National Small Prints, Parkside National Small Prints and Printwork ’98, 2k at Barrett Art Gallery in Poughkeepsie. She also teaches workshops and is an adjunct instructor at Castleton State College.

Shattuck’s exhibit at Green Mountain College will be on display through July 11. The Feick Arts Center is open Monday through Friday from 1 – 5 p.m. For more information, visit Feick Arts Center or call 802-287-8398.
