"I enjoy teaching at Green Mountain College. It is tremendously satisfying to help students learn the business skills they'll need to compete and succeed in an increasingly global market. Applying my years of practitioner experience and practical business tools to the job of getting students closer to achieving their goals...it's a wonderful opportunity to give something back to the community."
Dr. Prado has over 15 years of business-practitioner experience, generally in global business and finance and specifically in asset-based, credit-secured and sales and export financing. The experience he brings to his students is based on conducting business throughout the world, including in Spanish or French when needed. His background in structured finance, risk management, trade/export financing, tax-based leasing and commercial banking began with five years as an international banker, financing the exports of Fortune 1000 companies. Dr. Prado also worked for manufacturers for more than ten years, first financing the international sales of large communication systems, and later financing aircraft and rail product sales. His practitioner experience also includes risk assessment and financial risk governance systems.
Dr. Prado's experience as an educator began with guest-lectures in area colleges while still a full-time practitioner. He also taught ground and distance education business courses as an adjunct professor. Soon after being invited to join Green Mountain College's full-time faculty in 2004, Dr. Prado became a key team member in the development and implementation of Green Mountain College's M.B.A. in Sustainable Business program which, together with the M.S. in Environmental Studies program, marked the first graduate as well as distance education offerings of the college. He was involved in all aspects of the program, including curriculum design, instructional materials development, etc. The experience sparked Dr. Prado's current interest in the development of sustainable business practices that result in competitive advantage for businesses and in the role of business education in promoting sustainable business success. Dr. Prado has also been interested in global management issues for many years -and specifically cultural factors in global business effectiveness (the subject of his doctoral dissertation).
In addition to his teaching and service interests, Dr. Prado has worked as a consultant and as a subject matter expert. He is an Assistant Professor of Management and the Program Director of the B.S. in Business Program.
