Curriculum
The REED certificate requires 22 credits, with five core course and two electives. Three credits from the core must come from an external practicum. The external practicum will be taken through several training programs with approved external organizations offering expertise that complement the core REED curriculum, including Solar Energy International or Yestermorrow. (For more information on the external practicum, contact the REED certificate program director).
As an elective in the certificate program, you’ll have the option of taking a one credit elective that can help prepare you for one of two national standards exams: the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professionals exam and /or the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals (NABCEP) entry level certificate test. LEED is the nation’s premier Green Building Rating System and works closely with the Green Building Certification Institute, which administers the LEED Accredited Professional program. NACEP is the nation’s leading solar professional accrediting organization. The NABCEP entry level certificate program is designed for students who want to get into the solar energy field.
