Gallery spaces on campus are frequented by nearly all students, with an artist reception held every Friday towards the end of a semester as student exhibits are finalized and readied for display. These events offer a great place to socialize, support one another’s craft and view the incredible art created by our peers. Artists who showcase their projects in our galleries take part in every step of the process, from mounting and hanging to lighting and providing refreshments – a learning experience from start to finish.
The Feick Fine Arts Center
The Feick Fine Arts Center, once a carriage shed barn on our historic campus, is now renovated into a climate and light-controlled exhibit space. The Feick provides visiting artists and Green Mountain College art students an opportunity to display their work. In fact, every GMC student graduating from the B.F.A. program has a solo show at the Feick or the neighboring Surdam gallery. Exhibitions and events at the Feick are free and open to the public. Please contact the gallery for more information at 802-287-8398 or feick@greenmtn.edu.
Surdam Art Gallery
The Surdam Art Gallery houses art department faculty, a small gallery for student and faculty exhibits, studio and classroom space, and kilns. Surdam is the central location for all arts courses at GMC. Whatever your medium, you’ll find the materials and support you need from our knowledgeable and talented faculty. As a shared space, we pride ourselves in providing an atmosphere of respect for all works, tools and ideas that enter this building.
