Division III Athletics
You won’t find many “benchwarmers” at GMC. The beauty of Division III athletics is a spirit of strong interscholastic competition balanced with an opportunity to jump into varsity action as a first-year student.
GMC offers seven sports offerings for men (cross-country, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, golf and track and field) and seven for women (basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, volleyball and track and field) in the NCAA North Atlantic Conference.
As a student athlete for the GMC Eagles, you’ll form lasting bonds with your teammates and join the legacy of a college with a rich athletic tradition. To find out more about our teams, coaches and athletes visit the GMC Athletics site.
- Ultimate Frisbee Club. The Vermont forests teem with flying squirrels and “Flyin’ Squirrels” is the mascot for Green Mountain’s Ultimate Frisbee Team. If you’re up for some intense Frisbee with a fun and relaxed crew, this is the place to be. The Flyin’ Squirrels compete in local tournaments and hosts a daylong tournament at GMC.
- Men’s and Women’s Rugby. Our men’s and women’s rugby teams are an old tradition on campus, holding home games on Friends & Family Weekend each year, and sponsoring a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. The men and women’s teams are members of the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU), and in the fall play teams from around Vermont and New Hampshire.
- Quidditch. Yes, we have a Quidditch team, the Welsh Green Dragons, which holds practices in the fall and competes against other schools in local and regional tournaments. If you are a Harry Potter enthusiast, you are welcome to join the team (even if you don’t have your own broomstick yet). Quidditch is a great way to stay in shape, have fun, and meet students from Green Mountain and other schools.
