The College provides comprehensive health services through an agreement with Castleton Family Health Center (CFHC) located seven miles from the campus. CFHC is part of the Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region (CHCRR).
The Castleton Family Health Center is a fully equipped medical facility with onsite x-ray and lab services. The center provides a full range of primary care and preventive services including confidential AIDS and STD testing.
Castleton Family Health Center can often provide same-day appointments for urgent care when students are not feeling well or non-routine health issues. Call early in the day to schedule your appointment. Physical exams should be scheduled in advance.
There is a wait of 8-12 months if a student is looking to get established with a primary care provider at Castleton Family Health. Students who want a primary care provider in the area can get also get established as a patient at the Mettowee Valley Family Health Center in Pawlet, VT.
The Wellness Center offers confidential individual and group counseling to students who are experiencing difficulties that impact their personal and/or academic lives.
Our experienced, caring staff members work with students to provide supportive counseling and evidence-based psychological services. Assistance is offered to students who are interested in developing, defining, and accomplishing their personal goals.
The Wellness Center also offers a wide variety of programming and information focused on the developmental needs of students. Referrals to other resources in the community are provided when needed.
Appointments are recommended, and may be arranged by calling the office at (802) 287-8376, or on a walk-in basis, depending on the availability of the counseling staff.
In the case of an emergency, the Wellness Center provide access to 24-hour crisis intervention services as needed.
Domestic students: Students are required to provide proof of enrollment in a health insurance program or be enrolled automatically in the program provided by the College at a designated rate.
International students: International students are required to enroll in the student health insurance program offered through the College.

Green Mountain College offers a free shuttle service to CFHC in Bomoseen/Castleton Corners at approximately 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday while classes are in session.

The region’s public transit system, “The Bus”, operated by the Marble Valley Regional Transit District, also provides daily round trip transportation between GMC and the Castleton Family Health Center.
