Our energy dashboard provides real-time energy use information to students, staff, faculty, and visitors. The online energy dashboard may be accessed here or can be viewed in person using the touch-screen in Withey lobby. Electricity use and steam use in the residence halls is available in real-time, over the last week, or over the last year. The dashboard was made possible by funding from the Student Campus Greening Fund, and students were involved in the design and implementation of the project. It is managed by a local company called Temperature Controls of Vermont. Every fall, the sustainability office hosts a competition called Do it in the Dark that challenges residence halls to reduce their electricity consumption over the course of a certain period, either a week or a couple days. In the past, the savings have gone to charities or the green revolving loan fund, and the winning residence hall has gotten a pizza party or ice cream party. If you are looking for more detailed data than you can find on the dashboard, please contact the sustainability office. They would be happy to help you get energy data for electricity, heating oil, propane, biomass, or transportation fuels. The results of last year’s Do it in the Dark competition are below:
