H1N1 Update

Campus Email: 10/27/09
The H1N1 vaccine is now available in our area

Castleton Family Health Center (Rt. 30, Castleton, Vt. (802) 468-5641) is offering the nasal mist version of the vaccine to anyone between ages five months and 24 years, who DOES NOT have any conditions that put them in a high risk category (e.g. breathing conditions such as asthma or other pulmonary conditions; diabetes; compromised immune system conditions).

Dr. Scovner (236 Main St., Poultney, Vt. (802) 287-2269) also has the vaccine, in nasal form. Other providers may also be giving the vaccine, so check with your provider or call one of the resources above if you are interested in becoming vaccinated.

We are planning to have a joint vaccination clinic on campus with the Poultney schools and Visiting Nurses Association as soon as the Vermont Department of Health makes the vaccine available, so stay tuned for more information.

In the meantime, please take care to wash hands frequently, avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth, and limit exposure to others who are ill. These are the primary precautionary measures to keep from becoming infected.
