Honors Tea is an annual awards ceremony near the end of the spring semester that celebrates students’ academic, social, and community service achievements. Students are nominated by Green Mountain College faculty and staff members.
The 2019 Honors Tea Ceremony was held on Sunday, April 28, at 2:00pm in the Withey Dining Room.
Descriptions of Awards
Outstanding Student Club or Organization: This award is presented to a campus club or organization that has made significant progress, has had special accomplishments during the 2018-2019 academic year, or has significantly contributed to campus life. Areas of accomplishment that will be considered are programming, community service, organization, outreach, fundraising, membership and training. A club or organization does not need to contribute in all the areas but should have made significant progress in several of the areas.
Outstanding Student Employee: This award is presented to a student who has excelled in their role as a student employee for Green Mountain College. Awards will be based on the following criteria: demonstrated teamwork ability, collaborative skills, commitment to the job, can-do attitude, initiative, creativity, problem solving skills, reliability, thoughtfulness towards others and ability to work with limited supervision. This award is open to both work study students and student employees.
Sophomore Leadership Award: The Sophomore Leadership Award recognizes a sophomore for exemplary leadership, service, and commitment to the Green Mountain College community. This award highlights a student who has demonstrated initiative, action and the potential for continued leadership at Green Mountain College.
Community Service Award: This award is presented to a club or organization or group of students that has either organized a single event or an ongoing event that benefited the greater community. The event must have occurred during the 2018-2019 academic year.
Gold Star Award: This award will be presented to a maximum of two first-year students who, during their time at Green Mountain College, have made significant contributions to the campus community. Areas of accomplishment that will be considered are involvement in student life and athletics, involvement on college committees, participation in college sponsored programs or activities, or general service or contribution to the betterment of Green Mountain College.
Vice President of Student Life Service Award: This award will be presented to a maximum of 2 current seniors who have demonstrated extraordinary contributions in their involvement and commitment to Green Mountain College. Awards will be based on the following criteria: involvement in campus activities and programs, leadership positions held, committees served on, special projects or programs, and contributions to the betterment of the college. This award reflects the student’s involvement over their entire time at Green Mountain College (not just the 2018-2019 academic year).
James M. Pollock Exceptional Service and Dedication to Green Mountain College: This honor will be awarded to one student who has demonstrated exceptional level of service and dedication to the college. The student must be a junior or senior and have achieved a minimum of a 2.50 grade point average. The recipient should reflect all areas of contributions to the College including academic awards, volunteer service, leadership positions, other positions or offices held on campus, and overall commitment and dedication to the betterment of the College. This award reflects the student’s involvement over their entire time at Green Mountain College (not just the 2018-2019 academic year).
Award for Exceptional Service and Dedication to the Greater Community: This honor will be awarded to the student who has given an exceptional level of community service to the greater college community. The student must be a junior or senior and have achieved a minimum of a 2.50 grade point average. The recipient should reflect all areas of involvement with the greater community including programs or projects the student is involved with, leadership positions or offices held, any recognition received for their service, and specific organizations the student has been involved with which have contributed to the greater community. This award reflects the student’s involvement over their entire time at Green Mountain College (not only 2018-2019 academic year).
